Associate Buyer

1st Shift: 8am - 5pm

Job Summary

The Associate Buyer will be responsible for assisting the supply chain team in meeting both departmental and plant wide objectives. This individual will have the opportunity to become an instrumental part of the daily supply chain activities, including reporting, purchase order creation and maintenance, pricing negotiations, master scheduling and supplier management.

Excellent analytical / problem solving, interpersonal and organizational skills required. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Must be a team player. Must be self-motivated and have effective communications skills both written and verbal to interface with employees at all levels in the organization. Ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously and ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems (SAP, QAD, Oracle, etc.) is a plus.

Responsibilities

40%

  • Run ERP reports for purchasing requirements, specifically utilizing MRP and perform analysis to support purchasing decisions. Identify and collect information necessary to recognize potential issues ahead of time to eliminate backorders and avoid production delays due to lack of purchased components.
  • Issue and enter purchase orders for required materials/services on a regular basis. Manage returns and complaints with suppliers. Take initiative proactively to investigate any and all options for resolving purchasing issues across departments, including alternate sourcing, expedited deliveries, and stocking programs on standard items.
  • Review open purchase orders to identify past due orders and take appropriate actions. Communicate with applicable team members about issues related to vendors and supplies.
  • Maintain PO dates in ERP per supplier order acknowledgements and ensure they are received in a timely manner.

30%

  • Manage Kanban inventory items and levels. Replenish Kanban stocks in a timely manner and monitor demand for spikes in
    critical components.
  • Coordinate RFQ/RFP's and vendor negotiations between suppliers and internal departments to include analyzing costs,
    terms and conditions.
  • Research and identify new suppliers for components/materials.
  • Maximize company value by effectively auditing vendor's performance on delivery, invoicing and shipment.

20%

  • Perform periodical analysis of safety stocks and reorder points to maintain appropriate levels of inventory.
  • Use MRP and ERP reports to monitor demand for purchased materials.
  • Manage and utilize QAD for all inventory activities including cycle counts and yearly physical inventory preparation and participation.
  • Plan meetings with stakeholders and key players to resolve issues and convey information.

10%

  • Prepare reports for management as required.
  • Develop and document best practices.
  • Perform other duties as directed or required.
  • Work with Global Purchasing to achieve cost savings goals and targets.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent-Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply chain or related field
  • 1-3 years of direct and relevant manufacturing procurement experience - Preferred
  • 1-3 years' experience with standard software packages (i.e. Microsoft Office) to analyze data and offer solutions
  • 1-3 years' experience with MES systems and ERP related software
  • Ability to follow/interpret verbal, written, oral, diagram and/or schedule form instructions
  • Ability to read reports and generate reports on productivity and efficiency
  • Ability to be highly attentive to detail and consistency

Key Skill Requirements

  • Strong ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions, drawings or blueprints.
  • Must be self-motivated and have effective communications skills both written and verbal to interface with employees at all levels in the organization
  • Must have proficiency with word and spreadsheet applications and computer operating system.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply chain or related field

Work Experience Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of direct and relevant manufacturing procurement experience - Preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires walking, primarily on a level surface throughout the day. May need to climb stairs/steps periodically. May need to reach above shoulder heights and below the waist. Lifting as required with proper lifting techniques up to 50 pounds on occasion. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is in a clean room and office environment where the use of personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, and safety shoes are mandated. Noise levels and temperatures may vary due to areas accessed. There is some exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals such as alcohol.
